An original Hitler-Jugend (HJ) Hitler Youth dagger with nickel plated pommel and crossguard. It has undamaged original black chequered grips, one inset with the red and white enamel HJ diamond with black and gold swastika. It has a just under 5 ½” long, broad single edged blade. Interestingly, the profile of the blade has been period altered creating a sharp drop point for WW2 use as a fighting knife. The blade has just light staining consistent with age and no damage to the cutting edge. The blade is fitted with original hilt washer & is crisply marked with RZM roundel, 'M7/11' which is the Nazi manufacturer code for E. Knecht & Co Solingen. It is also marked with ‘1938’ date and with K & Co Solingen company name and trademark indicating transitional production (early production daggers have just the maker’s name with no RZM marks, transitional examples such as ours have both maker’s name and RZM marks and later wartime production models have just RZM marks with no maker’s name). The dagger is complete with original black metal scabbard with leather integral frog and retaining strap with press stud fastener. The price includes UK delivery (NB.
