The Marlin Model 97 (originally introduced as the Model 1897) is a vintage .22 calibre lever-action takedown rifle produced by the Marlin Firearms Co. Manufactured roughly between 1897 and 1922 (with the roll stamp changing to "Model 97" around 1905). This is very good Marlin Model 1897 lever action rifle. It has all original un-damaged wood work with Marlin signature butt plate. Its 24” barrel has the manufacturer’s name, USA address and patent detail. The action tang has model detail ‘Model ‘97’ (all illustrated). It has a full length tube magazine. The rifle is serial number 283905 which indicated post 1905 production. It has a folding peep foresight & 2 leaf folding rear sight. Deactivated to UK specification in 2015 the weapon cocks and dry fires (the takedown action has been fixed in place during the deactivation process).
