**QUALITY MAKER**C1840 German Goellner (aka Göllner) Suhl .50 Bore Percussion Target / Duelling Pistol With Octagonal Barrel & Safety Catch. Sn 18258:3 - 18258:3

Gottlieb Albrecht Goellner (aka Göllner) was an elite 19th Century master gunmaker based in the historic German firearms manufacturing city of Suhl, famous for crafting high-end flintlock and percussion sporting guns. This is an excellent quality percussion target / duelling pistol by Goellner. The pistol has an 8” octagonal steel barrel (14 ¼” overall length). The smooth bore is clean. The top barrel flat is signed ‘Goellner A Suhl’. The action has foliate engraved decoration. Its attractive walnut full stock has a chequered grip panel, stepped steel pommel cap with foliate engraved decoration and polished horn fore end cap. There is a small, old, fine, stable crack in the wood near to the stock plate which can only be seen on close inspection (can be seen in image 3). The stock plate, ram rod flute tang and trigger guard with spur & extended tang have foliate tooled decoration including acanthus bud finial. The Dolphin hammer has a brass rosette head bolt securing it to the action and a swivelling safety catch. The pistol has a blade fore sight and ‘v’ notch plate on the action rear sight. The pistol has a wood ram rod. The pistol’s cocking and firing actions work crisply. The price for this excellent pistol includes UK delivery.
