A late 19th century French Revolver Holster designed for use with both the 1873 and 1892 Lebel Revolver (The service revolver model 1873 Chamelot-Delvigne was the first double-action revolver used by the French Army. It was produced by Manufacture d'armes de Saint-Étienne from 1873 to 1887 in about 337,000 units. Although replaced by the Modele 1892 revolver, it was nevertheless widely used during the First World War and issued to reserve units in 1940. The French Resistance made widespread use of it during the German occupation). The brown leather holster has an internal compartment for cartridges. The rear has a single belt loop and leather tabs with brass rings for shoulder strap. These holsters were copied by both the Russians and the Japanese for their Nagant and Nambu T-14 pistols. This French example is in excellent condition. The clam / flap has a leather tab strap with eyelet reinforced by a riveted brass plate which secures to a brass lug on the body of the holster. The inside of the lid is ink stamped with indistinct markings (illustrated in image 2). The leather & stitching are all clean. The price for this rare holster includes UK delivery. L 501
