A rare Brazilian 1908 Pattern bayonet and brass mounted leather scabbard. This is the bayonet for the new 7mm Rifle adopted by Brazil in 1908. It has a swept forward quillon and fullered blade. It has unmarked wooden slab grips secured with two steel rivets. The pommel is steel and has a push button release which works as it should. It has a clearing hole in the grips adjacent to the cross guard. There are no markings on the bayonet. The bayonet has a 11 ¾ " polished steel single edge blade. The stitching on the brass mounted leather scabbard is intact and has a number on the frog stud "e 745" (see 'An Illustrated History Of Bayonets' book by Martin J Brayley, Page 38) This is an uncommon and attractive bayonet.
