This is a rare 1st pattern sword bayonet for the Baker rifle introduced into British service in 1836. The bayonet is in excellent condition with an ordnance stamped blade. The bright 22 inch leaf shaped blade has a short central fuller and carries a crown over 22 ordnance acceptance stamp on the ricasso. The bayonet measures 26 ½ inches overall is fitted with a brass hilt with a square mortice. The hilt has a round button on the end of a lever to release the bayonet from the rifle.
