This 'Last Ditch' Japanese bayonet was made in the last stages of WW2 when Japan's resources were stretched. They were supplied with wood scabbards instead of the early war steel versions. The bayonet has wood grips, riveted on, a rectangular pommel with working steel release button and a crossguard without hooked quillon & muzzle ring. The pommel is numbered and has inspection marks (illustrated). It has a blued single edged clean blued blade with crisp Japanese Script manufacturer marks at the ricasso which is Toyoda Jidoshoki Seisakusho (Toyoda Automatic Loom Works aka TALW) under Nagoya supervision. The emergency measures olive green painted wood scabbard is undamaged and has steel chape, throat mount and 2 cord reinforcement bands in the mid section. In his book ‘Bayonets of Japan’ page 176, the author Labar describes these bayonets as scarce and illustrates a similar bayonet he describes as variation Q with the same TALW maker marks and similar scabbard as ours. The price for this scarce bayonet & scabbard includes UK delivery. Sn 23461
