The German made Anschutz Hakim Egyptian Military Trainer is a rare, highly collectible .22 calibre (5.5mm) underlever spring-piston air rifle manufactured in Germany by Anschütz circa 1954–1955. It was commissioned by the Egyptian government to train its military recruits and youth movements to handle the standard-issue 8mm Hakim semi-automatic battle rifle without the steep costs and dangers of live ammunition. With only about 2,800 units ever produced, it stands as one of the most unique and sought-after military training airguns in history. Instead of looking like a standard sporting airgun, the trainer was intentionally modified by Anschütz (based on their Model 1954 sport action) to replicate the substantial weight, length, and feel of the true service rifle It is equipped with a shrouded raised front sight and a distinct U-shaped rear battle sight designed to mimic the sight picture of the centre fire rifle. This rare example is in excellent condition. The weapon is tap loading. The metal work has its original blue finish and has Egyptian skull and crossbones insignia representing the Egyptian National Guard & National Union Youth Movement & Arabic inscriptions. The rifle's original wood furniture is excellent & undamaged and fitted with a steel butt plate & sling swivels. The rifle cocks loads and fires with a strong spring action.
