The rare to find WW1 / WW2 era New Zealand made military fighting knives come in a number of forms, but all have the same alloy hilt with moulded chequering. The New Zealand made knives were popular with American Forces (see pages 214 216 plate 521of British & Commonwealth Military Knives By Flook which illustrates an example identical to ours). Our example has the correct cast alloy grip with moulded knuckle guard which has cast pyramid type projections and raised pommel ideal for striking during combat. The knife measures 10 ¾” overall with a clean 6 ¼” spear point steel blade. As is usual with these weapons there are no manufacturer, date or military markings on the knife. The knife is complete with its correct original brown leather scabbard which has a single belt loop and retaining strap with eyelet which fastens to a brass stud on the body of the scabbard. There is a small old stable tear to the retaining strap on one side of the eyelet consistent with service use but the retaining strap fastens correctly and retains the knife in the scabbard as it should. All other leather, stitching and rivets of the scabbard are clean intact. The price for this rare fighting knife & scabbard includes UK delivery. Sn 22672
