The Benjamin Franklin Model 342 is a classic, American-made .22 calibre multi-pump pneumatic air rifle that holds a legendary status among airgun collectors and enthusiasts and are rare to find in the UK. They are exceptionally compact and lightweight, measuring 34 ¾” overall length, giving it a handy, carbine-like feel. Our example is in very good condition, it is equipped with a fixed front blade sight and a basic adjustable rear sight. It has the correct parkerised type finish, solid brass barrel, air chamber, and receiver, meaning these rifles do not rust like steel-barrelled alternatives. Early Models (1955–1960s) were distinguished by a sleek "corn cob" ribbed forend, built using the original St. Louis factory valve system and manufactured at the original Benjamin Air Rifle factory in St. Louis, Missouri. Mid-Era Models such as ours made in the 1970s had smooth, or checkered "oversized" wooden pump handle. In the 1980’s after Benjamin purchased its longtime rival, Sheridan, late Models were redesigned internally to feature the highly efficient Sheridan valve assembly. Sights were elevated in 1985 to accommodate optional peep sights & operations moved to the Sheridan plant in Racine, Wisconsin. Our 1970’s piece has the correct chequered panel wood fore stock. All wood and metal are undamaged with just light handling marks. The metal work has calibre maker and model detail (all illustrated) and its bolt action and pump mechanisms work correctly. The rifle is serial number T423632. The price for this rare to find in the UK American air rifle includes UK delivery.
