2nd Pattern Fairbairn Sykes 'FS' Fighting Knives were introduced in 1941. This is a near mint condition WW2 Officer’s nickel plated 2nd pattern, FS dagger and scabbard. Examples of nickel plated FS daggers are illustrated in Chapter 7 of ‘The Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife & Other Commando Knives’ by Flook. The dagger has the correct nickel plated brass knurled handle & oval cross guard. The knife has an undamaged 165 mm long blade with medial ridge. The ricasso has etched and blued panels, 'Wilkinson Sword London' & the reverse 'The FS Fighting Knife', the etchings are crisp but lightly rubbed consistent with age and service use. Its original scabbard has a nickel plated brass chape and integral belt loop with original elastic retaining strap. It retains its original sewn on leather tabs.
