This is a rare, original Nazi German Luftwaffe NCO’s & Other Ranks visor cap (similar Luftwaffe cap variations and insignia are illustrated in Chapter 5 of ‘The Collector’s Guide To Cloth Third Reich Military Headgear’ by Wilkins). Made of Fliegerblau (Flier’s Blue) Trikot material it has the correct gold / yellow hue piping and ribbed black Rayon headband. The front of the cap is mounted with the correct white metal Luftwaffe Eagle with Swastika & National Cockade cap Badges. The material has no mothing or damage. The cap has a patent leather visor and chin strap with buckles. The cap has its original leather sweatband and cloth liner. The liner and sweatband have minor service wear & have indistinct, worn, manufacturer lettering . The inside of is ink stamped ‘Flg.W.Schule (school) E Neustadt- Glewe’ and ‘L/FI.R.2’ most likely to a Flight training school squadron together with other indistinct letters / numbers (all illustrated in image 2).
