Description

Largest selection of genuine antique weapons for sale in UK. See our website andrewbottomley.com. Ref 2677. A Very RARE AMERICAN NAVY ISSUE REMINGTON M1867 ROLLING BLOCK .50 Cal PISTOL complete in its correct leather holster from the period. A Single Shot Big Bore Pistol. This is an antique Remington Rolling Block Model 1867 Pistol made in Ilion, New York. The Model 1867 pistol uses a .50 calibre Remington Pistol Centre Fire cartridge. It could be said that there was in reality no 1867 Model since the 1867 pistols were contract alterations of the Model 1865. In the late 1860s, Remington produced the first of its rolling block pistols, the 1865 Navy chambered in .50 calibre rimfire. These were modified to the 1867 Navy, chambered in .50 calibre center-fire, and all were manufactured for U.S. government contracts . They were marked with the Navy inspection marks “P / FCW” on the right side of the frame, for USN Ordnance Inspector Frank C. Warner. The top of the barrel is stamped with a U. S. naval anchor mark and the initials H. E. just in front of the breech. The leather holster is also marked USN but unfortunately it is now split almost in two pieces, but we are very lucky to have a holster at all as we have never even seen one before or indeed offered one for sale. The overall condition of the pistol is good. The action is strong. The bore has good rifling. Lots of blued finish is still visible. Here is a chance to own a truly rare and interesting Naval pistol from Remington! Ref 2677. This is an obsolete antique item and is sold as a collectors item only. No Licence is required in the United Kingdom. If you wish to purchase this item please visit our website andrewbottomley.com where you can pay by credit/debit card. Established 1968.
