Probably made circa 1840-1870.? Chequered & fluted black wooden grips with an engraved gilt brass shield fitted to the grip centre on one side. Iron hilt, pommel & knuckle- guard. The iron counter guard is embossed with a fine Bavarian coat-of arms in gilt brass showing a lion holding shield. Straight single edged blue & gilt blade inscribed with a crown and monogram to both sides. Blade length is 33 inches. Much original blue & gilt decoration remaining Overall length is 39 inches. No scabbard. A good looking sword. In very good condition. Ref 3787.
