Remington 1907 bayonet with sheath 1907 11/15 , classic World War I British Pattern bayonet, thought to be designed for the Short Magazine Lee-Enfield (SMLE) rifle. The "11/15" stamp indicates it was manufactured or accepted in November 1915 by the Remington Arms Company in the United States.
History & Scarcity: While millions of P1907 bayonets were produced during the war, Remington manufactured only about 100,000 of them under contract for the British. This low production run makes Remington-marked bayonets sought after.
Key Markings & Features: Ricasso. The left side features the pattern year ("1907"), the manufacturing date ("11 '15"), and the circular Remington maker's mark .Inspection Stamps: The reverse side contains British War Department "broad arrow" acceptance marks and bend test stamps.
Scabbard: A correct original scabbard accompanies the bayonet, made of black leather with steel mounts with the "teardrop" style frog stud. There is surface rust/patina on scabbard steel.
There is a faint diamond marking to denote that the scabbard is an original Remington pairing.
The blade locates in the scabbard tightly with a pleasant connection.
Wooden grips in used/battleworn but solid condition.
Blade Condition Very good.
Overall:
An uncleaned item. No attempt has been made to improve any surfaces, as original patina is often desired. There are spots of dried domestic paint here and there.
