Military issue, arrived City Point mid November 1864 for the final months of the Civil War and in all likelihood was purchased by mustering out Cavalry Soldier for $12-15, finding it's way into future civilian market that way.
Matching Serial numbers, including rear of cylinder.
Sub inspectors factory stamps throughout, couple in italics, two upside down, bottom of grips and final stamp a cartouche with the initials of Benjamin Hannis.
In addition tally marks on grips and clean bore. External metalwork is pitting free, everything tight including the grips, trigger holds on full and half cock.
I've never had the grips off so haven't checked further serial number underneath the grips on that part of frame.
