Replica Guns firearms that closely resemble real guns are governed by the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 (VCRA). A realistic imitation firearm (RIF) cannot be sold to a member of the public without a legitimate defence — for example, membership of a historical re-enactment society, use in film or TV production, or membership of an airsoft site. Two-tone versions, where at least 51% of the body is a bright non-realistic colour, can be sold without restriction.

Blank firing guns that eject cartridge cases to the rear or side are generally legal to own and sell in the UK without a licence. Always confirm the classification of any blank firer before purchasing, and retain any documentation the seller provides.
