The Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless is a self-loading, semi-automatic pistol designed by John Browning and built by Colt Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut. Approximately 570,000 Colt Pocket Hammerless pistols were produced from 1903 to 1945. Some were issued to US Army and US Air Force General officers from World War II through the 1970s. The pistol measures 6 ¾” overall with a 4” barrel. It has a safety catch which locks the slide and excellent Colt legend chequered wood grips. The metal work is undamaged with even aged blue finish. The left of the slide is nicely stamped with the Colt , Hartford, CT, USA address and 1897-1903 patent details together with the 'rearing Colt' logo. The pistol’s serial number is 554813 which is in the serial number range of WW2 production 1942 - 1942. The right of the slide is stamped 'Automatic Colt Calibre .32 Rimless Smokeless'. Deactivated to UK specification in 2013 the pistol cocks & dry fires, the grip safety works as it should & the magazine can be removed.
