This is a very nice condition South African Police 6 panel Solar Topee Pith helmet, complete with South African Police helmet badge and leather chin strap, size 7 1/8". The solar topee, pith helmet was designed to shade the wearer's head and face from the sun. Pith helmets were often worn by European travellers in the varying climates found in Africa. This helmet has a cloth folded khaki headband. It has a vented top and leather chin strap. The outside covering is free of damage. The brim edge is edged with folded stitched leather. Inside it has a leather sweat band which is in excellent condition with a drawer string. The sweatband has a handwritten size "7 1/8". The underside of the brim is lined in green cloth. The helmet badge is that of the South African Police and secured in place with two brass nuts on the inside. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 13907:24
