Swiss ‘M57’ Bayonet, Scabbard and Frog. BAYO 772. Bayonet

Knife bayonet for use on the renowned 7.5mm Sturmgewehr 57 (Assault Rifle 57) made by the firm ‘Schweizerische Industrie-Geellscaft’ (S.I.G). It was designated ’bajonett mod. 1957’ (Bayonet Model 1957). In spite of its official designation, the ‘Stgw.57’ is a selective-fire rifle, rather than an assault rifle. The ‘Stgw.57’ had a very long service life, remaining in production from 1958-1983. The ‘W & F’ mark on the blade indicates assembly by ‘Waffenabrik Bern’. The serial number is ‘341965’ below a W. See ‘An Illustrated History- Bayonets’ by Martin. J. Brayley, page 212. The blade is mint and showing very little signs of wear, measuring 9 ½ “, 14 ½ “overall. The plastic scabbard comes with its thick leather frog, again in very good condition, stamped to the rear ‘M.Darbellay-Fully-83’. The price includes UK delivery. BAYO 772.
