A matching pair of percussion pocket pistols, with 1.75" turn off barrels, thumb slide safety, dolphin hammers, scroll and line engraving to both locks with 'Spencer' on one side and 'London' on the other- both pistols are identical. Thomas Spencer was first referenced with premises based on Mile End,Old Town, London in 1819, but in 1841 he was recorded at 34,Duke Street, Southwark, London. These pocket pistols, have British proof marks on the underside of the frame and the barrels, have turn-off barrels, making loading a charge easier, and fold-down triggers. They probably had a mahogany case with the pistols, percussion caps, charge or powder, and balls, for the shot, all contained in the case, unfortunately their case has not survived. A nice pair, all the same.
