This is a WW1 period ‘Trench Art’ brass shell case using a 1917 dated French 75mm Matériel de 75mm Mle 1897 (French 75) field gun cartridge case. The decoration is commerating ‘SOMME 1918’ in relief with nail hammerings all over the top third of the case with an oak branch with 3 leaves of it. The bottom part of the case has 8 deep smooth vertical flutes embossed into it. This impressive case is in very good condition, is 75mm in diameter and 345mm tall.. Price includes UK Delivery. Sn.
