The Mauser Model K440 is a highly collectible, spring-powered gallery air rifle chambered for 4.4mm lead round balls (BBs). It is exceptionally rare because Mauser only produced a limited run of 250 units. The rifle shares its mechanical foundation with another famous German gallery gun the Diana Model 30 Heritage: The K440 is nearly identical in design, construction, and operation to the classic Diana Model 30 shooting-gallery rifle. It utilizes an under-barrel tubular magazine holding approximately 125 round lead balls (typically No. 9 calibre or 4.4mm lead BBs NB to avoid jams do not use 4.5mm ball or smaller copper balls). A distinct feature of the rifle is its internal, non-resettable mechanical shot counter visible on the action, which tracked total usage in active commercial shooting galleries. Our near mint example has the low shot count of 02292 which makes it a premium piece not having been heavily worn out by decades of public gallery abuse. It is engineered for short-range target engagement. Its power delivery is intentionally mild, matching standard German "Schießbuden" (shooting gallery) regulations. This near mint, ultra rare gallery gun has all original finish to the metal work and undamaged wood. It is 43 ¼” overall length, has winged blade foresight and adjustable dial rear sight. It also has the correct Mauser inlaid metal escutcheon and shot counter currently registering 02292 shots, low for its age. The rifle has the correct typical, large bolt which operates correctly and it cocks and fires crisply. The stock has its original ribbed rubber recoil pad. The metal work has maker & calibre detail all illustrated and is serial number ‘8810880’. The price for this extremely rare gallery gun includes UK delivery.
