This is a very rare, fully functioning example of the Lincoln Jeffries 'Lincoln' .177 Calibre Air Pistol. These Air pistols were produced between 1921-1930 and are very rare (see pages 108-110 of A Collector's Guide To Air Pistols By Hiller). The Air Pistols were manufactured by ‘Lincoln Jeffries’ at their Steel house Lane, Birmingham factory & only approximately 1500 were manufactured. Due to their appearance these pistols are also known as ‘the grease gun’ air pistol. It has the correct all metal construction with original blue finish. It has open sights. The pistol's 'break action' thumb operated barrel release catch & cocking mechanism with spring in the cylinder which forms the grip is nice & strong & it shoots as it should. It has a 9" rifled barrel stepped towards the breech (11 ½” overall). The rifled barrel is clean with well defined rifling. The top of the barrel block is marked 'The Lincoln Air Pistol'. The left side of the frame is crisply stamped 'Best English Make'. The frame, trigger, cylinder butt cap and thumb catch have matching numbers ‘653 / 53’.
