This antique shotgun has all original Walnut woodwork throughout with chequered panels at the wrist & fore stock. Its steel action plate is signed by the retailer Thomas Turner, Fisher Street, Birmingham. It has a chequered horn butt plate, brass trigger guard & polished horn fore end block. The breech cover with locking catch is stamped ‘Snider’s patent’. The gun chambers the obsolete calibre .577 Snider round. The shotgun measures 49 ¾” overall with a 30 ¾” barrel. The smooth bore is clean. The barrel is stamped with inspection mark & ‘25’ and has a brass bead fore sight. The hinged breech cover is numbered ‘C 591’. Its cocking and firing action work crisply. This is an antique, obsolete calibre gun and no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. Sn 23702
