The Gerber Guardian Mark II is the iconic dagger famously used by U.S forces during the Vietnam War and styled after the British Fairbairn Sykes Commando Fighting Knives. The knives were available as private purchase weapons in the era and Gerber knives are still favoured by U.S. Soldiers today as private purchase weapons. This variant modelled on the Vietnam daggers but with a camouflage hilt is a later evolution from the mid-1980s. This example is in excellent condition and these knives are hard to find and desirable collectors items. The hilt is correctly cast aluminium with original factory-applied camouflage pattern. The finish has some small areas of handling wear but no damage. It has a 6 ¾” spear shaped double edged blued blade with medial ridge (11 ¾” overall). The blade is near mint factory sharp with all original finish and no damage to the cutting edges. The ricasso is crisply stamped with the Gerber name ‘Sword In Stone’ trademark and Portland Ore USA address. The reverse is stamped with serial number 'D2466S’ which dates the knife’s production to the 1980’s (Guardian II Camo Variants were produced between 1983 & 1987). The knife is complete with its original Cordura Camouflage scabbard with large belt loop retaining strap with press stud fastener & Steel wire hanging bars to the rear mounted on a Gerber marked nylon plate (all illustrated). The tip of the scabbard is holed for thigh cord and is fitted with its original coiled nylon cord. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 23412 (in store room FS box)
