**RARE**Period Cased Pre WW2 Webley Senior .177 Calibre Air Pistol With Brown Grips. Sn 19259:5 - 19259:5

This is an excellent Webley Senior air pistol made pre 1939 (see pages 77 & 79 of Webley Air Pistols’ by Bruce’). It is undamaged with brown vulcanite chequered grips correctly without Webley signature roundels. The metal work has original blue finish which has light blemishes consistent with age. The left side of the cylinder is stamped 'The Webley Senior Made In England' together with 'oil' and arrow indicator pointing to the oil hole located on top of the cylinder. The right side is stamped 'Webley & Scott Ltd, Birmingham' and has the correct pre war patents. The frame has serial number ‘S9342’. The front of the cylinder has matching number ‘342’. The forward barrel block is stamped '.177 S' calibre. The pre war barrel is correctly without central knurled / ribbed section which was introduced post WW2. It has a blade foresight & adjustable rear sight. The pistol cocks and fires crisply. The pistol comes with its original period carry case. These cases in various configurations some made with key operated locks and others with clasp fasteners were produced by both Webley and retailers for period Webley Senior air pistols and are considered as desirable as the pistols themselves (see 87 – 90 of Bruce’s book where several Webley and retailer made cases are illustrated in particular page 89 where a case with clasp fasteners similar to ours is illustrated). The navy blue leather bound wood case has a hinged lid and 2 clasp fasteners marked ‘Cheney England’. It has a leather bound wood handle. The leather has just light surface wear consistent with age & use. The inside of the case is lined in dark blue felt and has compartments to fit the pistol and accessories. The inside of the lid has 2 elasticated straps which hold a loose, later, Webley and Scott paper trade label. The price for this rare to find cased pre war senior includes UK delivery. Sn 19259:5
