This is a nice Imperial German WW1, 1916 dated pattern 98/05 butcher bayonet in its original matching numbers steel scabbard The bayonet has the correct 9 groove wooden grips which are in good condition and are secured with two original screw bolts. The steel blade is crisply marked on the ricasso by the manufacturer STAHLBLUME an angel monogram FERD SCHLEUTERMANN REMSCHEID-HASTEN. The spine of the blade is stamped with the crown over W16 (1916 date) and an inspection stamp. The pommel is marked with 1 inspection stamps. The clean blade measures 14 3/8 inches long with an overall length of 19 3/4 inches. The quillon is stamped with the bayonet number 91 which is stamped on the throat of the original matching steel scabbard is in excellent condition.
