An excellent Australian WD WW2 1942 MK III* Brass Signal Flare Pistol manufactured by The Cane Sugar Refinery, Sydney. The pistol has a flared brass end piece and is fitted with undamaged grips with chequered panels. It has crisp manufacturer's 'CSR' Sydney cartouche (Colonial Sugar Refinery Company Sydney New South Wales, see page 56 of The Broad Arrow by Skennerton) together with War Department stamps. '42' (1942) date and 'III*' model detail on the left side of its frame. It also has serial number 9952 & inspection mark on it's right side (all illustrated). The pistol is complete with military lanyard ring. Deactivated to UK specification in 2019 the pistol breaks open as it should & it cocks and dry fires.
