The American M4 Sherman tank was widely used by American and Allied forces, especially after D Day. The 75mm M48 High Explosive Round was widely used during World War II, particularly in the M4 Sherman tank. This is an unfired WW2 high explosive round for the Sherman M4 tank. The brass cartridge case is headstamped 75MM M18 LOT 23145 126* B Co 1943 (date). The brass percussion primer is stamped M31A2 POP 2 22581-6 42 (date). The steel projectile has an unfired copper driving band and is stamped on the side 75MM M48 1943 GMC – 4- LOT 225 (General Motor Company). The projectile is fitted with a brass and alloy quick action time and percussion fuze which is stamped on the side SM CO 9 44(September 1944) FUZE TIME AND SUPER QUICK 54 SM SD. The round was used in the M4 Sherman and M3 Grant tanks.
