This is an excellent clean WW2 dated smooth jacketed .303 Vickers Heavy Machine gun with tripod, ammo belt & inert rounds. The machine gun is marked with serial number 'B2344' which identifies it as being a Lithgow Vickers made between 1944 & 1945 (see page 266 of ‘The Grand Old Lady Of No Man’s Land’ by Goldsmith) and has WD arrow stamp. It is fitted with flip up long range sight and has excellent undamaged wood firing handles. One side of the gun has mounting for optical sight (illustrated). The machine gun retains its original finish. Deactivated to early UK specification in 1994 the gun cocks and dry fires crisply, the breech cover opens and the brass feed block can be removed. The tripod is in excellent original condition with original green paint and is marked ‘Mount Tripod MG MK IV’. It has the correct graduated dial. The Vickers is accompanied by an original 1937 and 1940 dated ammunition belt which has 4 x inert deactivated rounds of .303 calibre ammunition. The brass feed tab of the belt has stamped date and designation lettering and the belt itself has ink date marking (illustrated). The price includes deactivation certificate. Due to the size and weight of this piece delivery will be by arrangement and at cost. Sn 19645
