This is an original WW2 era, U.S Army Thompson 1928 M1 SMG (see page 312 of ‘The Ultimate Thompson Book’ By Hill). It is an excellent example and its original wood stock, pistol grip and fore stock are all undamaged as is its metal work. The weapon is crisply stamped 'Auto -Ordnance Corporation, Bridgeport, Connecticut, U.S.A.’ and 'U.S Model of 1928 A1’. The weapon is serial number 162626 which is on the frame. The underside of the frame has un-matching number. The top of the frame is stamped with the Thompson trademark & ‘Tommy Gun’. The metal also has Thompson USA patents and ‘Thompson Sub Machine Gun Calibre .45 Automatic Cartridge’ and British WD marks indicating supply to Britain by USA under wartime lend lease arrangement. The Thompson has blade fore sight, Thompson muzzle flash suppressor and Lyman peep flip up ladder sight. It is complete with an original U.S Seymour products Co stick magazine. The weapon’s sling swivels are configured for British commando use so the weapon could be carried across the chest & as was common its fore stock has been period hand chequered to provide extra grip. The stock has a steel butt plate with trap. Deactivated to UK/EU specification in 2023 the weapon’s trigger moves, the slide moves backwards and forwards under spring tension, the tigger clicks and although not dry firing it does give that impression, also the magazine can be removed and the stock can be removed. Included are 2 Inert Deactivated Rounds Of .45 ACP brass cased Ammunition. The rounds load into the magazine correctly.
