An original WW2 era Japanese Army Type 30. This example is described as Kokura Arsenal Matsushita Kinzoku KK Arsenal Variation H in Raymond C. Labar’s book ‘Bayonets of Japan LB-109 page 138). Made by the Matsushita Kinzoku KK Arsenal (commonly known as the National Denki). This variant has the correct blued blade & riveted grips instead of secured by screws. The undamaged blade carries the 4 ring Kokura Arsenal mark followed by the ‘Matsushita ‘M’ with arrow mark (illustrated). The Matsushita Products Co Ltd was the 2nd largest sub-plant of the Kokura arsenal. The pommel has the correct release button which works correctly. The pommel has Japanese Kanji marks which Labar describes as denoting 86th Series manufacture and has serial number 26059 which is in the serial range for 86th Series manufacture as described in the author’s book page 138 (00499-89573). The pommel also has arsenal inspector’s mark (all illustrated). The original metal scabbard has its original blue finish and fixed frog bar at the throat. The scabbard has no dents.
