An original WII era LKpW-101 Luftwaffe pilot's leather flying helmet, these helmets were fitted with a newly developed Siemens communications system and improved insulation for better sound transmission (see pages 75 & 235 of the book Vintage Flying Helmets by Prodger). The helmet is made of thick dark brown leather lined with fleece. Goggle straps and chinstraps are correctly made of leather as are the throat mic neck straps. The leather covers hard rubber earpieces and feature a ridge for goggle retention. The helmet has the correct hooks for face mask. This helmet has the bakelite throat mics which are marked Mi 4b Ln. 26779-2. All material and leather of the helmet is clean and intact. The display head illustrated in the images is not included.
