WW2 1938-1940 Japanese Officer's Seki Arsenal Shin-Gunto Sword Tang Signed With Sword Smith & Family Names By 'Ho Da Kane Tsugu (or Tsune)’ & Scabbard With Leather Field Combat Cover. Sn 12573 - 12573
This is a very good, original WW2 Japanese Officers Shin-Gunto sword & scabbard. The sword has a fish skin handle bound with cord. It has its original copper and brass fittings including floral menuki. The pommel has its original lanyard ring. The tang is marked on both sides with stamped and painted Sword Smith and family name Japanese script characters including 'Ho Da Kane Tsugu (or Tsune depending on translation)’. All markings are illustrated. The 25” blade ishas typical Gunome Midare Seki Hamon. Made C 1938-1940 there is no arsenal stamp but looks oil tempered. Showa-To. The blade is razor sharp. The sword is carried in its original steel scabbard with single hanging ring. The scabbard is fitted with its original brown leather field combat cover which has 3 press stud fasteners at the throat.
