PAIR OF VERY RARE ORIGINAL BRITISH VICTORIAN ROYAL NAVY BOARDING PIKES WHICH ARE THE FULL ( 91 INCH ) LENGTH...NOT THE USUAL CUT DOWN VERSIONS WITH THE ORIGINAL 15 INCH STEEL HEADS.
Overall very nice original condition.
Typical boarding pike 15 inch steel head with ashwood shafts
These are ab absolutely original matching pair each having the correct steel pike head with dual supporting tangs securing it to the hardwood ash shaft. The heads have various stampings.
The have the traditional British Victorian quality of the 19th with very nice age patina
Boarding Pikes were traditionally carried British Men-o-War and other Royal Naval Ships to "Repel Boarders" hence the long lengths. However, most were later shortened for boarding parties and so on.... ( but these are the original 91 inch length) Boarding pikes represent a truly romantic part of British Royal Naval History dating from a time of sail and early Ironsides.
