A ‘Tanto Dagger’ Tsuba (A tsuba is a sword guard and part of a sword mounting. It is mounted between the sword's blade and grip to protect the user's hands) made from iron depicting a boatman and wild geese or ducks. It has a lovely wet look to the iron with good patination. This is possibly ‘Aizu Shoami’ work from the early 19th Century or slightly earlier. The open ‘Hitsu’ identifies this as a ‘Meta Zashi’ style Tsuba. The price includes UK delivery. ED 2697.
