80 bore Flintlock pocket pistol, by Bass of London ( nephew of John Fox Twigg) 1.5" turn-off barrel, barrel and frame stamped with Number 1, action engraved with a Stand of Arms and inscribed 'Bass' on one side and 'London' on the other. Overall length approx 5", hammer works in full and half cock and folding trigger folds down on full cock. Bass formed a partnership with his Uncle John Twigg until the latter's death in 1790, and Bass continued until his own, untimely death at 33 in 1794. Thumb slide safety works on full cock and stops the hammer firing until the slide is released. Even today firing allowing the hammer to fire will produce a good spark. This is a very nice little pocket Flintlock.
