Browning B825 Pro Sport: One Year On From Launch

A year after its launch, the Browning B825 Pro Sport has firmly established itself as one of the most popular competition shotguns on UK clay grounds.

Replacing the hugely successful B725 was never going to be easy. Yet over the past 12 months, the B825 has evolved from Browning's latest release into a proven choice for Sporting shooters at every level.

We recently spent time with the B825 Pro Sport at the CPSA English Open Sporting at Barbury Shooting School, where Browning's Daniel Ridgley guided us through the gun and explained the key developments behind its success.

Designed to Build on Success

The B725 was already regarded as one of the finest Sporting shotguns available, so Browning's goal was not to start over.

Instead, the company focused on refining the features that matter most to clay shooters. Improved trigger performance, better ergonomics, greater adjustability, and a more personalised fit were all priorities during development.

The result is a shotgun that feels instantly familiar to Browning shooters while delivering meaningful improvements throughout.

The Fire Lite 2 Trigger

During our conversation at Barbury, one feature stood out repeatedly: the new Fire Lite 2 trigger.

The B825 uses a mechanical trigger system rather than relying on recoil to reset and prepare the second shot. This provides a more consistent trigger pull and reliable operation across a wide range of cartridge loads.

On the stand, it is one of the first improvements you'll notice. The trigger feels crisp, clean, and predictable, helping create a direct connection between shooter and target.

While it may seem like a subtle upgrade on paper, many shooters consider it one of the most significant improvements over the B725.

A More Adjustable Competition Gun

Modern Sporting shooters increasingly want a shotgun that can be tailored to their individual shooting style and build.

The B825 Pro Sport Adjustable delivers exactly that.

Equipped with Browning's Pro Fit adjustable comb system, shooters can alter drop and cast to achieve a more precise fit. Clear reference markings make adjustments simple, accurate, and repeatable.

The shotgun also features Browning's Pro Balance System, which allows weights to be added or removed from the stock to fine-tune the gun's balance point.

As Daniel explained in our video, these features allow shooters to configure the gun around their preferences rather than adapting their technique to suit the gun.

Refined Handling and Ergonomics

One area where the B825 excels is its natural feel in the hands.

Browning redesigned several key elements, including the receiver profile, top lever, and safety catch, creating a more modern and ergonomic platform.

The low-profile receiver helps reduce muzzle flip while positioning the shooter's hands closer to the bore line. This promotes smoother swings, greater control, and faster target acquisition.

Whether tackling close crossing targets or longer driven presentations, the gun feels balanced, stable, and composed throughout the shot.

Proven Barrel and Choke Technology

Browning wisely retained much of the barrel technology that has helped make its competition shotguns so successful.

The B825 Pro Sport features Back-Bored barrels paired with Invector DS Pro extended chokes. Together, they are designed to improve shot patterns, reduce pellet deformation, and deliver greater consistency.

For Sporting shooters facing a wide variety of target presentations, consistency is critical, and the B825 continues Browning's strong reputation in this area.

A Year Later: Has It Delivered?

The answer appears to be a clear yes.

Over the past 12 months, the B825 Pro Sport has become a familiar sight at competitions, registered shoots, and practice grounds across the UK.

What makes the shotgun stand out is not a single revolutionary feature. It is the way several carefully considered improvements work together to create a more refined shooting experience.

The trigger feels better. The fit is more adjustable. The ergonomics are more modern. The handling remains unmistakably Browning.

Together, these refinements have helped establish the B825 as one of the leading Sporting shotguns currently available.

Final Thoughts

One year after launch, the Browning B825 Pro Sport has more than lived up to expectations.

It builds on everything shooters appreciated about the B725 while introducing thoughtful upgrades that genuinely enhance performance on the clay ground.

After spending time with the gun at Barbury Shooting School and speaking directly with Browning's Daniel, it is clear that the B825 was never intended to reinvent Browning's Sporting shotgun formula.

It was designed to perfect it.
