Deanes of London were a highly regarded gunmaker in London, supplying fine quality weapons. Dean of London were trading until 1846 when the company became Deane & Company. This is an antique percussion Constabulary Carbine and bayonet which is fitted with the Hanovarian bayonet catch. The gun has an overall length of 41 ½ inches and has a fine walnut stock which is in excellent condition, fitted with sling swivels at the rear of the trigger guard and fore end. The 26 ½ inch barrel is smooth with a smooth patina as is the steel lockplate which is engraved DEANES LONDON. The gun is brass mounted at the trigger guard, fore end cap, side nail caps and butt plate. The bore is in excellent condition with a nice smooth shiny finish and is fitted with a Hanoverian bayonet catch as opposed the Lovell’s catch. The gun is fitted with two brass ram rod tube and the correct steel ramrod. The carbine is fitted with a Pattern 1840 Constabulary bayonet 16 ¾ inches long with a blade length of 13 1/8 inches. The blade is stamped at the ricasso with a crown inspection stamp together with P5 and has a catch riveted on to retain it in its scabbard. The socket is engraved with the number 50. The carbine is fitted with a white leather sling which is in excellent condition. The action works crisply. The price includes UK delivery.
