I have a very good ZAR Martini Henry Improved Rifle by Westley Richards. Rifled for 577/450, barrel stamped "Henry Rifling" &" Westley Richards Co", with foresight and ladder rear sight. Dated 1898 on the Knox form. Birmingham proof marks on L/H side. Slab sided receiver marked "MADE SPECALLY FOR ZAR". Dropping feed ramp with cocking indicator. Walnut butt stock with plain blued iron heel plate, walnut fore end, two iron barrel bands & nose cap with bayonet lug. Flared end iron ramrod & swivels. Excellent condition overall, bore very good. Martini action but had an improved Francotte patent breech mechanism. This design feature enabled the action to be removed by unscrewing the large screw at the bottom front edge of the receiver. This feature is unique to the ZAR Martinis.
