A Luftwaffe Ground Assault Badge, die-stamped two-part construction with the eagle in tombak and the wreath in zink. Soldered on set up with rivetted tombak eagle. Maker marked on the reverse with the Osang maker mark. The reverse of the badge has a vertical pin with a crimped barrel hinge over the makers mark. The badge was instigated on the 31st March 1942 to reward the members of the German air force who were engaged in military operations in support of the army. These units consisted of 22 field divisions and were known as the ‘Luftwaffe replacement army’. In very nice condition.
