This is a Danish Model 1774 Jager rifle retaining the original curved doglock lockplate where the dog was removed and a later 2 stage half cock tumbler installed. The rifle has a .75 inch bore barrel was rifled with 5 grooves with a quick twist. The rifle was fitted with a two position flip over rear sight with range /windage cut outs. The lockplate has an early dog lock swan necked cock and is fitted with a brass frizzen pan. The rifle carries 3 brass ramrod tubes, trigger guard, butt plate and a riveted on nose cap. The right hand side of the butt is fitted with a sliding wooden lidded patch box which carries the spare flint. The rifle has two sling swivels, one near the nose cap and one at the rear of the trigger guard. The rifle has an improvised bayonet bar which has an integral one piece foresight with two narrow sockets to clamp it to the barrel. The right hand side of the barrel carries the number T560 on the right and the letters of the barrel maker PSG in a cartouche on the left. The tang carries the number T560 and the barrel has a proof mark and the letter K. The heavy ramrod is made of steel with a cup on the top for ramming the bullet. most of these rifles were later converted to the percussion system with a pillar breech. The action works crisply.
