This is a quality made sporting shotgun by Charles Hellis & Sons made at their 119 Edgware Rd Hyde Park between 1897-1905. It has 29” steel barrels. The barrels, set side by side have a central barrel rib and bead foresight. The rib is signed by the maker ‘Charles Hellis & Sons 119 Edgware Rd Hyde Park London’. It has its original walnut stock in excellent condition with ribbed butt and double triggers. The wrist & fore stock have chequered panels and the underside of the stock has an inlaid void escutcheon. The action has quality tooled decoration and is signed ‘C. Hellis & Sons’. The shotgun is number 2634 and has gold leaf No. 2’s on its metal parts. Deactivated to UK / EU specification in 2026 the weapon’s top lever break action opens the breech, its safety catch slides and its triggers moves but it does not cock and dry fire.
