Victorian English Stockport Borough Police Constable's & Sergeant's Leather Belt With Constabulary 2 Part Nickel Plated Brass Buckle. Sn 11158 - 11158

In the Autumn of 1856 as a result of the County and Borough Police Act 1856 Cheshire Justices were obliged to establish a paid Police Force for the whole of each County area including Stockport Borough. In 1870 Stockport Borough established its own Constabulary. The Borough later became part of the Cheshire Constabulary and now forms part of the Greater Manchester Policing area. This is an excellent original Victorian English Stockport Borough Leather Belt With 2 Part Constabulary Buckle. The 2 part nickel plated brass buckle is undamaged and retains much of its original nickel finish. The buckle combines and locks into place to form the arms of Stockport Borough and embossed circular banner with wording ‘Stockport Borough Police’. The original supple brown leather belt is 1 ¾” wide and is 34” in length with adjustment buckle at the mid section adjustable to approx. 48”. The belt has reinforced stitching and rivet at one end which holds a 4 ½” leather tab in place (to protect the Uniform of the wearer). All leather & stitching are intact.
