This is an empty transit case in good condition for the American M2 .5 inch Browning machine gun. The case is of wooden construction with two steel straps round the circumference with a hinge securing the lid. The two turn toggles securing the strap have broken off at some time in the case’s lifetime. The case is painted light grey and is complete with all of the internal wooden partitions and blocks. The case is stencilled in black on the lid CHEST FOR GUN BROWNING .50 MK.II. D.S.I.. 229.SATIS??ED(SATISFIED) GUN HISTORY SHEET INSIDE . It is also stamped 501 over INSP KB&E Ltd over 1950 .The front of the case is stencilled in black CHEST FOR GUN BROWNING .50 MK.II. D.S.I.229. SATISFIED . The rear of the chest is stencilled in black CHEST FOR GUN BROWNING .50 MK.II. . One end of the case has the number 169049 hand painted on it .There are two steel reinforcing straps screwed to the ends of the case painted black together with handling ropes.
