This bayonet is the MK III pattern of 1887 with no fullers to the blade (see page 163 item B207 of Skennerton’s British & Commonwealth Bayonets). The blade carries a Queen’sCrown over "V.R."(Victoria Regina) and the dates "94" (1894) and ‘00’ (1900). It was probably made by Enfield but no name appears on the blade. Wilkinson clearly stamped their blades and there were on other producers. The spine and reverse of the blade carry inspection marks and the broad arrow WD mark. The ricasso is stamped ‘F.A’ most likely to the Field Artillery. There are also inspection marks on the tang and a struck out number on the pommel. The polished steel blade is in very good condition and measures 18 ¼” long. The chequered hard boiled leather grips are undamaged. The cross guard has the correct rolled end and muzzle ring. The pommel has a push button release which works as it should. It is complete with original brass mounted leather scabbard. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 17723
