Circa 1835. The 2 inch screw-off barrel stamped underneath with British proof marks and the number 44. One side plate engraved with the makers name Holmes Liverpool (possibly Henry Holmes of Liverpool who had a workshop at 88 Lord Street, Liverpool circa 1827-1837). Scrolling engraving to the side plate, trigger guard and top strap. Chequered wooden grips with an escutcheon fitted to the rear.
