The 9.5 inch octagonal barrel engraved on top London and British proof marks on the side of the barrel. The lock-plate engraved Ketland & Co. Brass trigger guard and two matching brass ramrod pipes. Complete with what appears to be its correct wooden ramrod fitted to the tip with an iron corkscrew type worm. Brass shield shaped escutcheon on the rear of grip. Calibre approx .60 Overall length 14.5 inches. T. Ketland & Co. was Thomas Sr. he was a very successful Birmingham gun maker. He started in business around 1760, expanded into the export market around 1790, died in 1816. His business was carried on until he became bankrupt in 1821. The company made flintlock pistols and became successful in this field of manufacture. The action is in very good crisp working condition. In good overall condition. Ref 2121.
