Mounted on the right hand side of the gun, the lever is slim and does not detract from the lines. The end has a push in catch which engages upon a stud fixed to the cylinder, and during the cocking procedure a ratchet mechanism is engaged which ensures complete safety should the lever be accidentally released during the cocking sequence.
It is about 43" overall. It has a shrouded blade fore sight, adjustable rear sight and is side lever loading.
With its noticeably thicker barrel giving it a ‘bull barrel’ appearance. Metalwork has original finish and is nice and mainly unpitted 2 marks lhs of cylinder low down see pics. and a little tarnished on the underside of the sidelever
However the barrel shows signs of fingermark tarnish see photos, not all over but in spots like finger prints, mainly lhs some dots rhs and under at rear 1 dot.
The wood work is very good but has been rubbed down? and varnished see photos.
The stock has a Webley signature rubber recoil pad.
The cylinder housing is stamped with .22 Calibre details and serial number '21309' I had to lift the sight to see the 1st digit, see pic.
The top of the cylinder is grooved for telescopic sight. Between the grooves is deeply stamped 'Webley Osprey'.
The rifle cocks, loads fires fine. they are noisy. compared to now.
inc original gunbag - as it would be a shame to separate them.
obvoiusly well looked after except for when the old gentleman didn't wipe down with oil the last time or so he used it.
